Washington D.C. (AHT) – Israel and the United States have created a joint group a few months ago, through which they aim to destabilize Iran from the inside, sources reported.
Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat and his US counterpart John Bolton met recently in Washington to develop a strategy to put pressure on the Iranian government and shower it publically with avalanches of criticism.
According to the source, there is no question this group is at least trying to overthrow the Iranian current government. However, and according to an official, “Nobody is seriously considering a change in regime, the formed team is instead aiming at exploiting the internal weaknesses of Iran to create more pressure and help change the Iranian behavior.”
The US seems to fear its waning power in the Middle East, especially after the defeat of the terrorist groups in Syria which the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Israel and other client regimes have been supporting.
Moreover, the members of the group who have convened a few times during the last few months use social media as a platform to address the Iranian people; a tactic that has already been tested by US and Israeli officials.
For instance, videos by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu are posted online on Facebook, with Farsi subtitling, to encourage Iranian people to protest against the government. For his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo posted a series of tweets in support of Iranian protesters and highlighting the growing funding of the Revolutionary Guards to provoke the people against supporting resistance movements in the region, especially as economic woes are on the rise in the country.
Also, deploying diplomatic teams in various countries across the world and lobbying large international bodies such as the UN, IMF, and the World Bank come as part of a series of steps determined to weaken Iran and its government.
On a related note, the Israeli Channel Hadashot quoted a document sent from the Israeli Foreign Ministry addressed to all Israeli missions worldwide that read “We must increase pressure on Iran by first of all realizing that this is the right moment to do so, as Iran is in a sensitive period at both diplomatic and economic levels. Israeli aid and pressure can also lead Iran to change its position on the nuclear program and make concessions.”
All this, according to the source, comes within the context of the violent policies adopted by US President Donald Trump. The source finally pointed out that American and Israeli officials refused to comment on this joint group and all information related to it.
