The relatively new website, DC Leaks, has released roughly 2,500 files from the George Soros Open Societies Foundation.
The base is browsable and categories are searchable. All the documents are categorized into regions as well as two categories titled “The President’s Desk” and “SOUK”. The hack reportedly includes evidence of election manipulation throughout the EU and possibly Latin America.
Who is DC Leaks? As their online bio states, “DCleaks is a new level project aimed to analyze and publish a large amount of emails from top-ranking officials and their influence agents all over the world. The project was launched by the American hacktivists who respect and appreciate freedom of speech, human rights and government of the people. We believe that our politicians have forgotten that in a democracy the people are the highest form of political authority so our citizens have the right to participate in governing our nation. The authorities are just lobbying interests of Wall Street fat cats, industrial barons and multinational corporations’ representatives who swallow up all resources and subjugate all markets. We believe U.S. citizens have the right to know how domestic and foreign policies of the United States are shaped and who the real policy maker is. Our aim is to find out and tell you the truth about U.S. decision-making process as well as about the key elements of American political life. There are no borders or censorship for DCleaks. We are open for cooperation and ready to get valuable information, check its validity and to make it available to the public.”
United States officials are likely to attribute the hack to Russia; as they have with previous reports from DC Leaks.
The Open Societies Foundation has ties to the Investigative Consortium of Journalists in the form of funding. Which raised red flags for journalists and activists after the group released the Panama Papers earlier this year. George Soros also has ties to the Save Aleppo Campaign via Global Voices which encourages NATO influence in Syria in the form of “moderate rebels”.
This particular batch of documents, however, only focuses on the Open Societies Foundation. It’s purpose, as DC Leaks states, is “to let everyone inside George Soros’ Open Society Foundation and related organisations. We present you the workplans, strategies, priorities and other activities of Soros. These documents shed light on one of the most influential network operating worldwide.”
There are over 2,500 documents; Geopolitics Alert will keep readers up-to-date as we sort through their contents. You can browse the documents here: http://soros.dcleaks.com/
