(GPA) Damascus – As Russian and Syrian soldiers survey the streets of the formerly “rebel” controlled areas of East Aleppo, reports are emerging of booby traps, mass graves and signs of torture.
Russian soldiers reported multiple mass grave sites have been located in the initial sweep of East Aleppo during the clearing of bombs and booby traps left by the opposition upon their surrender. The bodies in the mass graves showed signs of torture, such as missing body parts.
Many of the bodies also had single gunshot wounds to the heads revealing that ‘rebels’ were executing civilians who were not compliant in occupation of their neighborhoods. These executions are probably a result of previously reported resistance to the terrorists such as mass demonstrations by the civilians trapped with the “moderate” occupiers.
This is just the latest evidence that the groups inside East Aleppo were more akin to hostage takers than freedom fighters. The mass grave reports also follow images of civilians celebrating the arrival of Syrian government troops in their neighborhoods as well as videos of civilians finding stockpiles of hoarded food aid kept in the terrorist depots around the city. Even yesterday, the civilians of Aleppo were celebrating Christmas in ruined cathedrals; something that wouldn’t have been allowed under rebel control.
The images coming out of Syria paint a much different picture than the “last goodbyes” given by residents of Aleppo shown on Western mainstream media. If westerners couldn’t understand why the citizens of Aleppo would celebrate the arrival of a “tyrant’s army” perhaps these latest reports will help make clear, the horrors of being captives of the opposition groups. Much like civilians westerners do hear about, attempting to flee places like Mosul in Iraq, these civilians were also made victims when they voiced their dissent to the not-so-moderate rebels in Aleppo.
Russian Ministry of Defense Spokesperson, Major General Igor Konashenkov confirmed the reports today saying “The completion of a uniquely large-scale humanitarian operation by the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Aleppo will destroy many of the myths that have been fed to the world by Western politicians.” He also clarified that this was only an “initial survey” and that as more is learned in “neighborhoods abandoned by the so-called ‘opposition’,” the findings will most likely “shock many.”
