Tel Aviv (TeleSUR) – “I am telling you that we will return Lebanon to the Stone Age,” said Israeli Intel Minister Yisrael Katz.
During an interview with Saudi Newspaper Elaph, Israeli Intel Minister Yisrael Katz said the Israeli military is ready to act militarily to stop alleged Iranian missile plants in Lebanon.
“The more accurate that Hezbollah’s missiles get, the stronger and wider Israel’s strike will be,” Katz said.
“This time, all of Lebanon will be a target.”
In August, during a meeting with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman accused Iran of building a high-precision missile plant in Lebanon. However, Major General Michael Beary, commander of U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, rejected these claims.
“If there was a large cache of weapons, we would know about it,” Beary said.
The Saudi newspaper also reported that Israel has invited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to lead peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine. The invitation comes after the U.S. government officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Israel and Saudi Arabia have no formal diplomatic relations. However, since 2016, after Saudi Arabia acknowledged the Egypt-Israel peace treaty and sent a delegation to Jerusalem, the two countries have gotten closer. They have also joined forces to deal with what they claim to be a common threat: Iran.
